Dear Families of SET,
Spring is the season of transformation; there are changes all around us, both visible and invisible. We can easily see the trees bursting forth with new growth as well as the cognitive and physical growth of our students over the course of this academic year. Shifts in mindset, however, occur without much outward sign. Often the most difficult part of change occurs within us. As individuals, we are initially resistant to change. By opening ourselves to change, we open ourselves to infinite possibilities.
As SET approaches the completion of our academic year, the rituals and traditions that help make a school into a community are firmly in place. Our Physical Education staff is busy planning our annual Field Day. We celebrated Read Across America last month. Our senior interns in Applications of the Profession class continue to do great things at local elementary schools. Our SET of Diamonds, Girls With Pearls and Guys With Ties continue to enhance SET and make it a special place to learn.
Academically, SET continues to pursue excellence. Teachers are committed to teach your children how to read, read, write, think, compute, appreciate the arts, speak well, and behave in socially acceptable ways, so that they can become economically independent, contributing members of our community. At the heart of the matter, the school works with you to do what is best for our children. SET teachers know that this work requires dedication; we work in the belief that we can make a difference!
As the fourth marking period begins, our students continue to be immersed in their academics and activities. Our work is noble, our mission clear, we do this work “not for self,” but rather to prepare your children for the rest of their lives.
